Volcano is a dark blue Dodge monster truck van. In battle mode it becomes an attack station, which a collector guide calls a high-rise tracker. It was released in Series Two in 1986.
The toy carried two figures and two masks. Matt Trakker wears Lava Shot, which fires blobs of lava. Jacques “Trailblazer” LaFleur wears Maraj, which creates an invisibility screen. In the toy line LaFleur is the co-pilot and works the rotating turret in defense mode.
The guide lists an opening sun roof, dual sand blasters, positionable lava launchers, a swivel armed barrier pod, body halves that split, a second cockpit, side exhaust pipes that become mortars, and balloon tires with metal shredders.
In the cartoon Volcano debuts in episode 47, “The Lost Fleet,” and LaFleur often operates it by himself rather than as a co-pilot. The toy’s two-figure pairing with Trakker is therefore a product choice that the show does not follow closely. LaFleur also appears with Glider Strike in Europe and with Detonator in Series Four.
