A relaunch for the fortieth anniversary

The Loyal Subjects announced its M.A.S.K. line on 3 March 2025, as a collaboration with Hasbro marking forty years since the original launch. The figures are 2.75 inches, the vehicles carry launchers, the figures have more articulation, and the packaging copies the look of the 1985 boxes. Pre-orders opened at Big Bad Toy Store on 1 July 2025 and wider distribution followed in September. The toys are made by The Loyal Subjects under a Hasbro licence, which is why this archive credits the maker here and the rights holder separately.

What came out, wave by wave

The first wave brought back the cars the cartoon is remembered for: the Thunderhawk with Matt Trakker, the Condor with Brad Turner, the Mobile Defense Unit that the original line called Rhino, with Matt Trakker and Bruce Sato, and the High Tech Helicopter, the Switchblade of 1985, with Miles Mayhem. The exclusives add more: a San Diego Comic-Con 2025 version of the Mobile Defense Unit, a Big Bad Toy Store set that packs Scott Trakker and T-Bob in with the truck, and two Hologram Editions for the 2026 convention, a Thunderhawk and a Condor, which echo Series 4 Split Seconds, where Stiletto came with a translucent Computer Image figure.

The second wave moves on to Hurricane with Hondo MacLean, the Armored Assault Vehicle with Cliff Dagger, Gator with Dusty Hayes and the Stealth Submarine Cycle with Sly Rax. The Armored Assault Vehicle is the Jackhammer of 1985 under a new name, and the Stealth Submarine Cycle is the Piranha, so the modern names map onto the vintage entries in this catalogue.

Where the record disagrees or runs out

The second wave has two different timelines in print: early 2026 in October 2025 coverage, and October 2026 as a Big Bad Toy Store pre-order in other reports. When we last looked, on 30 October 2026, it was still showing as a pre-order, so a ship date is unknown to us. Retail copy spells the Armored Assault Vehicle's pilot as Cliff Danger where the cartoon and most sources say Cliff Dagger, and we use Dagger. Scale is also reported two ways for the second wave, 2.5 and 2.75 inches, and we use the figure size given by the more detailed review. Nothing has been announced for a third wave, and any suggestion of one is fan wish-listing so far.

As for the vintage side of the story, the original toys and their maker are on the Kenner page.
