Switchblade is the personal vehicle of V.E.N.O.M. leader Miles “Wolf” Mayhem. It is an indigo high-tech helicopter with cerise canopy glass that transforms into a jet plane.
Kenner released it in Series One in 1985. A collector guide describes an opening canopy, dual laser cannons, a hidden missile and landing skids that launch energy bolts. A fan review adds that the rotors spin from a button, the wings fold out when the tail fin moves, and Mayhem can be seen through the canopy.
Mayhem’s mask is Viper, which spits a corrosive poison. It is paired with Switchblade in the toy line, and Mayhem carries a different mask in each of his later vehicles.
In the cartoon Switchblade appears in the first episode and remains his usual aircraft. When V.E.N.O.M. brings Outlaw into the show in episode 47, “The Lost Fleet,” Mayhem keeps flying Switchblade while Nash Gorey usually runs Outlaw by himself, which differs from the toy, where Mayhem and Gorey share Outlaw.
