Notes

The cartoon often calls Stinger by the name Scorpion.

Stinger is the vehicle of Bruno “Mad Dog” Sheppard, a convicted kidnapper with an orange mohawk. It is an orange Pontiac GTO that transforms into a tank, and a metal claw is hidden in the trunk.

Kenner released it in Series Two in 1986. A collector guide lists retractable wheel guns, a pull-out armored battle shield, a rotating radar scanner, a mortar, sniper scope cannons, an opening trunk, tank treads and the extendable stinger claw.

Sheppard’s mask is Magna-Beam, which attracts, repels or rips apart metal. In the toy line the mask came with the Sheppard figure, and he used a recolored Magna-Beam in the European Racing Arena pack and a New Magna-Beam in the Barracuda from Series Four.

In the cartoon Stinger debuts in episode 43, “The Chinese Scorpion,” and several episodes call it Scorpion. A fan article recalls a huge scorpion shell with pincer claws that conceals the vehicle in its introduction.
