Notes

Series Four (Split Seconds) is dated 1987 to 1988 on Wikipedia, which we follow. Wikipedia names the mask New Magna-Beam; one collector guide lists it as Magna-Beam. The European release is named Jackal. A fan article says the bike in the 1988 catalog has a cone-shaped design that differs from the produced toy.

Barracuda is the Split Seconds vehicle of Bruno “Mad Dog” Sheppard. It is a yellow motorcycle that turns into a rocket glider and an armed booster cycle. In Europe the toy was released as Jackal.

A collector guide describes a jet cycle and jet glider with a boomerang atom blaster, two laser tracers, a glider wing and a super stun atomizer. The package includes a translucent Computer Image figure of Sheppard.

Sheppard’s mask is New Magna-Beam, which makes a holographic double. The original Magna-Beam attracts, repels or rips apart metal.

Barracuda did not appear in the cartoon. Sheppard’s earlier Kenner toys are Stinger from Series Two and the European Racing Arena pack, which used a recolored Magna-Beam. Wikipedia describes Sheppard as a convicted kidnapper skilled in hand-to-hand combat and disguise, and considers him the toughest and most dangerous V.E.N.O.M. agent. Doug Stone voices him in the cartoon. A fan article about the 1988 Kenner catalog adds that the bike in the catalog art has a cone-shaped design that looks less aerodynamic than the toy that shipped.
