Notes

Series Four (Split Seconds) is dated 1987 to 1988 on Wikipedia, which we follow. Wikipedia names the mask New Buckshot; one collector guide lists it as Buckshot.

Vandal is a purple and yellow front-end loader that separates into a recon aircraft and a tank. A collector guide calls the second part a dirt tractor. It belongs to Floyd “Birdman” Malloy, the former biker gang leader.

Kenner released it in the Split Seconds series. The listed features are a fold-down air coil, power blasters, fog launchers, sting detonators and a torpedo cannon. The package includes a translucent Computer Image figure of Malloy.

Malloy’s mask is New Buckshot, which creates a holographic double. The original Buckshot launches bearing balls.

Vandal did not appear in the cartoon. Malloy’s earlier Kenner vehicle was Vampire, a red Honda touring cycle from Series Two. Malloy is also a former IRS field auditor and convicted forgery artist, and Brendan McKane voices him in the cartoon. A fan article about the 1988 Kenner catalog notes that most Split Seconds vehicles pair a land vehicle with an air vehicle, which Vandal does.
