Notes

Wikipedia describes the conversion as a jet; a collector guide calls it a rocket glider. In one cartoon episode the vehicle is called Dragonfly.

Firefly is the vehicle of Julio “Doc” Lopez, the team’s cryptography and languages expert, whose civilian job is physician. It is an orange Volkswagen dune buggy that turns into an aircraft. Wikipedia calls the aircraft a jet, while a collector guide describes a dune buggy that becomes a rocket glider.

Kenner released it in Series Two in 1986. The guide lists a tripod laser, supersonic turbines, prism beam launchers, a super stun atomizer and snap-out chassis wings.

Lopez wears the Streamer mask. Depending on the situation it fires sticky bands of glue, a fire-suppressant foam, or an oil-like substance.

Firefly debuts in the cartoon in episode 49, “Follow the Rainbow.” One episode calls it Dragonfly, and the name Firefly is the one used on the toy. Lopez returned to the toy line in Series Four with Fireforce, a Pontiac Fiero that splits into a glider and a three-wheeled motorcycle, using the New Streamer mask.
