Announced 20 February 2026 with Hasbro: an ongoing M.A.S.K. series from Dan Watters and Pye Parr, issue one on sale 3 June 2026 at $4.99.
Image Comics and Skybound announced on 20 February 2026, at ComicsPRO and in collaboration with Hasbro, that the property would become an ongoing series inside the Energon Universe. Dan Watters writes it and Pye Parr draws it. The first issue went on sale that June, at $4.99.
The rest of the credited team, per the Image press release, is Pierluigi Casolino on colors, Rus Wooton on letters and Ben Abernathy as executive editor. A preview ran in the Energon Universe Special 2026, the Free Comic Book Day book of 2 May 2026.
The characters turned up first
The unusual thing about this launch is that the property did not arrive cold. Matt Trakker had already turned up in a G.I. Joe story and Miles Mayhem in Transformers #25. Readers of the shared universe met the two sides of the franchise as guest stars before either had a book, which is a quiet way to find out whether anyone cares. The Energon Universe is a comics-first world, and the Image announcement says nothing about a film or television series.
Where it sits among the earlier books
It follows the Kenner mini-comics, the DC Comics books of 1985 to 1987, a British weekly and the IDW series of 2016 and 2017. We have entries for each of them in the comics section, and the Skybound run has its own series page that will grow as the issues do.
The first volume is titled “The Ultimate Weapon”. Our post on issue six and the second volume has the dates.
