NYCC 2026: Dan Watters on the Energon Universe panel, and no M.A.S.K. toy exclusive that we could find

New York Comic Con ran 8 to 11 October 2026. The series writer was on the Saturday Energon panel and the Friday night signing. We found no recap that reports a M.A.S.K. announcement.

New York Comic Con ran from 8 to 11 October 2026, and what the record shows for the book is a schedule and not an announcement: The Beat’s preview of 24 September lists Dan Watters, who writes the Skybound series, on the “Transformers & G.I. Joe: What’s Next for the Energon Universe Comics?” panel on Saturday 10 October from 11:15 to 12:15 in room 406.2 of the Javits Center, alongside Robert Kirkman, Tom Reilly, Jason Howard and Conor Hughes, with Ben Abernathy moderating.

The signing

The fourth annual Energon Universe group signing at Midtown Comics Times Square was set for Friday 9 October from 7 to 9 pm, and Watters was on the list, together with creators from the new G.I. Joe and Tomb Raider crossover. The Beat’s article also carries a cover for issue six, which goes on sale on 4 November, and says nothing about its story.

What we could not find

We searched for coverage of the Saturday panel and found previews and nothing that reports what was said about the book, so this post does not claim there was an announcement, and a reader who was in the room will know more than we do. A Skybound panel on Friday, “Vision for the Future”, was billed as a look at new properties and a new comics line; the coverage we read does not connect it to the book. We also found no Loyal Subjects exclusive for New York this year. Last year’s New York show, by contrast, is where Skybound recapped Miles Mayhem’s first appearances and announced Matt Trakker’s return in G.I. Joe #19, per Comic Crusaders, which is how this book got its footing in the first place.

If you have a recap, a photograph or a note from the Energon panel, the desk would like to see it.
