MASKast reviews the last cartoon episode, and the fan sites point at a September convention

The podcast finished its run through the DIC series with Cliff Hanger. Its feed and the Agents of M.A.S.K. post disagree on the date, and a Retro Con in Pennsylvania listed the line among its vendors' lines.

The MASKast podcast has reached the end of the cartoon. Episode 97 is a play-by-play review of “Cliff Hanger”, which the post on Agents of M.A.S.K. calls the show’s final cartoon review, and which our episode guide lists as the last of the DIC series, first aired on 26 November 1986. Wyatt Bloom hosts, and the episode before it, 96, had already told listeners that the podcast was two episodes short of finishing what it called its initial mission of covering the cartoon.

Two dates for the same episode

Agents of M.A.S.K. dates its post for episode 97 to 10 September 2026, while the podcast’s own host page lists the episode on 26 September. Both agree on the title and that it is the review of “Cliff Hanger”; the feed lists the episode at about an hour and a half. The same disagreement touches episode 96: the feed puts “Battle for Baja” on 8 August 2026, and our earlier community post gave 11 July for it. The feed is the primary record for when an episode went out, so we trust 8 August and have flagged the older date for correction. Why the blog post would run ahead of the episode we do not know; a scheduling difference between the blog and the hosting service is possible, and no more than that.

What the review says

The post’s synopsis has Brad Turner and Vanessa Warfield racing at the Mesa Verde Memorial Road Race, with Vanessa accusing Brad of cheating while V.E.N.O.M. goes after documents about seeds that cause a plague when added to water. A reader who commented rated it three out of five, liked that the agents carry the episode without Matt Trakker, and thought it a standard racing installment. Scott Trakker is among the agents in the cast list.

The convention angle

Between the two reviews the feed carries a short episode titled “MASKast: Retrocon 2026” on 7 August, in which Bloom gives details of the event; the feed page does not state a date or a place. A Retro Con listed by PhillyVoice ran on 12 and 13 September 2026 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pennsylvania, and names the line among the franchises its vendors were expected to sell. The two may be the same show, since the Agents of M.A.S.K. site covered a Retrocon in 2025 too, but no page we read ties them together, so we are not claiming it. The desk has found no convention built around the line itself.
