Slingshot is the vehicle of Ace “Falcon” Riker, a former NASA test pilot who runs a hardware store in civilian life. It is a white Volkswagen camper van that splits in half to reveal a launch ramp carrying a red sonic jet.
The Series Two toy from 1986 has a control cockpit, body halves that fold open, dual phaser units, a one-man sonic jet, a laser tracer bomb, a launch platform, a turret cockpit and a revolving front grill with two mounted cannons.
Riker’s mask is Ricochet, also called Boomerang, which fires an energy boomerang.
Slingshot debuts in the cartoon in episode 48, “Quest of the Canyon.” Riker’s other toy vehicle is Meteor, an F-14 style stunt jet from the racing wave in Series Three, with the Cruise Control mask. Mark Halloran voices Riker in the cartoon. The team’s other vehicles in the same Series Two wave are Volcano, Firefly, Hurricane and Raven.
